THE BEGINNING OF A COLLECTION

Last month,on my Franklin trip, I picked up this porcelain doll for my daughter. I never had a real doll collection when I was a little girl so this is something I want to start for Katherine. I thought she looked so sweet in her pretty pink polka dot bonnet and dress. She doesn't have a name yet so I'm in need of some suggestions. Does she look like a "Rose" or perhaps "Belle" ?

Rose! Yes, she looks like a Rose. Her face is so serene. She is gorgeous, Rebecca.

You will enjoy collecting dolls for your daughter. I did the same thing and I think I ended up enjoying them even more than my daughter did!

I love the name Katherine, BTW. :) We had a hard time deciding between that and Elizabeth for our daughter. And now she has a stage name, which is neither!

I like the sound of "Rose" for her, too..........

Willow, we liked Elizabeth for a name as well so we named her Katherine Elizabeth. My Grandmother's name was Katherine and my husband had a Great Grandmother named Katherine....Too funny about your daughter now having a stage name. I would love to hear her perform sometime. Is she in New York?

How about Rosabelle? She looks so sweet!

She is in Philadelphia and often takes the train up to NYC for auditions.

Rebecca, your new little friend is just exquisite....Did you ever read the beginning of the Thorn Birds..it opens with a description of a doll and its sumptuous outfit..I was reminded as I gazed at these photos. She is lovely and has a regal expression. I think Patricia would also suit her, or a double-barrelled name like Sarah-Rose, or Ella-Rose.

She is a lovely doll. Congrats on a beautiful find! She looks like a southern belle, and probably will want to be treated like one, too. :-)

Lavinia, I read "The Thorn Birds" many years ago and loved that book(and the mini-series). Thanks for the suggestion. I like both names very much.

Elizabethd, Lizzie, Besty, and Deedee...

Thank you for stopping by to look at "Rose"....She really does have that Southern Belle look to her. I just found out last night that a dear friend of mine had a Grandmother who made dolls like this...I would love to see some of her creations...
