THEME THURSDAY: FRIEND
"Each friend represents a world in us, a world possibly not born until they arrive, and it is only by this meeting that a new world is born."- Anais Nin
“There is nothing on this earth more to be prized than true friendship.”
Saint Thomas Aquinas
When thinking of friends, I think of tea. A leap? Absolutely not. When you think of the care and special attention that goes into making a cup or pot of tea, it is quite easy to compare that with the care and nurturing that goes into a friendship. Friends, like tea should always be treated with the greatest degree of tenderness. They must be savored, appreciated, and nurtured. It matters not if they are near or far, just that you share an undeniable bond.
For my dearest friends
Let’s be friends forever,
Let’s not care that there is space between us.
Let’s make a special kind of friendship
That’s better than the past.
Let’s use creativity and invent ways to make our friendship grow.
Let’s love for love’s sake
And continue to overlook mistakes.
Let’s dream and reach higher and be
Stubborn in our determination to see
The other one succeed.
Let’s be friends forever.

Lovely comparison of friendship to tea. The words of the poem are so true. It made me feel warm to read them.
On another note, I had trouble linking to you through Theme Thursday. Check it out-something is not quite right. I finally googled you and found another blog that listed they followed you and linked from there.
Happy TT
Ahh, as I worked my way through Mr. Linky on TT site, I see you relisted your blog. This one works!
This is a lovely poem on friendship. And I agree, the perfect hot cuppa brings about perfect friends...."appreciated and nurtured"...
What wonderful thoughts on friends. I am so glad I found you. I will follow to see what joining your group entails. I would not be able to physically come to your meetings. But thank you for the invitation.
Blessings
QMM
I couldn't count the number of cups of coffee and tea I've had while visiting with a friend. They do go together!
Friends and tea go hand in hand, don't they? Mind if I pour myself a cuppa? :^)
use creativity to invent ways to make our friendship grow...love that line...i tend to think of coffee and friends as well. happy tt!
Beautiful poem Rebecca! Beautiful indeed! And your music goes along so well with the snow! Happy TT, and I'm glad I met you!
I've been clicking around blog-land and you are a follower of a follower or someone of that nature. I clicked into the Ladies' Historical Tea Society and immediately felt warm inside, the way I do after a nice hot cup of English breakfast. If you don't mind, I think I shall return.
I agree...making a pot of tea for someone or having someone make it for you is very special. It is warm and cozy and just invites conversation. BW proposed to me over a pot of tea. I kept the tea bag and framed it with a little inscription. it was one of those teas bags that have wonderful sayings and it was absolutely fitting for the occasion. I don't remember what kind of tea it was, though.
Ronda, thank you so much for stopping by..Yes, the link wasn't working last night so thought I should remedy that:)....
Lizzie amd QMM, I still you're doing quite fine, post Christmas Tea of the year! LOL...Thank you for the kind words...
Betsy and Willow, there's always a hot cuppa waiting for you two over there:)...Wonderful bloggy friends, indeed...
Brian, that line grabbed me, too. It's so beautiful..Wish I had written it..LOL!! Coffee can certainly also have that warm comforting feeling and is wonderful to share with friends..
good heavens..the typos..I meant
I see you're doing quite fine...
and over here, not there..LOL!!
That's what happens when typing whilst eating at the same time ( that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it..)
Ah,Skip! So good to see you over here. Recovered from the plane ride home yet? Thanks for the kind post..you're welcome here anytime..
Tracey, it's wonderful to meet you! I actually just finished a hot cuppa English Breakfast and am making another! LOL!! Please, stay as long and often as you wish. Welcome!
Oh, Lady Cat...I don't know where to begin with learning this except to say, that has to be the most romantic proposal I've heard of. I'm not being biased at all, being that it was over tea....Hum..) I literally squealed when I read your post( my poor dogs can attest to that as I must have hurt their sweet ears)and you framed the tea bag! Oh...I'm in bliss!...
LadyCat, I hate to highjack Rebecca's comments, but I have to tell you that proposal story is so sweet. I made my husband a tea cozy for our first Christmas when we were courting. My future fil made some comment about my trying to get my hooks in him. But the man wanted/needed a tea cozy. Honestly. May you share many more tea bags.
Thanks Rebecca for letting me share your space here. I could not get LC's blog to load right.
Sweet post. Your whole blog is so calming! I am gonna take a nap here.
i like drinking tea with friends...but they need something stronger to put up with me...happy TT
Well, this is most odd, I am quite sure in my early morning stupour that I left you a comment here?
Anyway, as it is, I couldn't agree more with observation on Tea's whole affair.
Those quotes are perfect too. I think one of these days I must read this book, "A Cup of Friendship" --just the title alone is right up my alley.
Words and images, both elegant. Thanks for a charmingly calming post.
What a great post. I raise my cup of Yorkshire tea in celebration of you, your fine Theme Thursday post, and your excellent blog. Cheers.
Lovely words, wonderful sentement. -Jayne
Beautiful poem and perfect for your blog... when I visit with you I always look to see what flavor your drinking that day!
To friendship ~ 'clink' with cups ~
Friends Forever. What a beautiful thought.
Rebecca,
Thanks for your nice compliment on my blog about LadyCat and my engagement... you're too kind! Hope you have a wonderful day tomorrow... its Friday, at last.
The Bach
Rebecca,
Your Christmas music... oh my gosh.. it is absolutely beautiful...you are so nice to share such relaxing music.. comfort to the soul!
The Bach
i quite agree, Bach! :)
Now I know you're obsessed with the nuances of tea but frankly, my most emotional, happy and in between moments have involved a cup of tea. There is nothing, absolutely nothing as wonderful as that cup of tea you have after being in labour and giving birth. There's nothing like that cup of tea you have with a confidante who shares their problems or their joys. And for me, there's nothing like that first cup of tea in the morning that reminds you you're alive, have taste buds and are ready to take on the challenges of the day. Bottoms up!
