DINNER IN ASPEN

Well, after a very long and successful day hitting the antique shops in the downtown area, I will be ready to unwind at 7:30PM(CO time of course) with some wonderfully charming guests, a delicious dinner, glass of Cabernet Sauvignon, and perhaps a brief appearance from our charming host if we are very lucky. He is indeed a busy man, though.

We will be dining at the elegant Century Dining Room at Hotel Jerome and we can meet here in the lobby. I'll be standing next to the fireplace dressed in this:

DINNER IN ASPEN

See you there:-)...

PART 2 ASPEN ARRIVAL

(Here I am( in red of course) waiting at the station with a lovely lady who shared a lunch car with me on the train.)

For today, I wore the red and black dress with red cloche on the train ride.. Amazingly, the dress didn’t wrinkle at all;)….It was quite comfortable, actually…The green number on the left is what I’m about to slip into for an elegant formal dinner and cocktails later this evening. My ,it is much colder here than in KY, but I trust our host to make sure there is a fire blazing to keep those of us used to a bit warmer climates, nice and toasty.

This is what I’ll be wearing as I venture to some antique shops tomorrow, and the formal gown is what I'll wear for dinner…Oh, perhaps our host, Betsy, Willow, and the charming Bach and his lovely Lady Cat might accompany me to dinner on Monday? Anyone else care to join? It would be splendid, don’t you think?

Stay tuned on Tuesday for a surprise for the Tea Society followers, to commemorate my 200th post, and the unveiling of my special attire for the actual day of Mr. Toast's Christmas Tea...:)

(Part 1)
DEPARTING ON A SPECTACULAR JOURNEY

As the sun is shining brightly on this final chilly Sunday in November, I find myself eagerly waiting at the train station for my long journey westward to Aspen. I have packed my last hat box and finalized my wardrobe selections for the tea event of the season, Christmas Tea with Mr. Toast. As many followers of the Tea Society will no doubt make an appearance on Tuesday, I am so looking forward to chatting and hobnobbing with each of you. Can you think of anything more lovely? If by chance there are some of you who have not yet registered, you still have time to do so.

As for tomorrow, well, it would be a perfect time to explore the city and perhaps take in a few antique shops? I just might find a lovely vintage tea cup and saucer to bring home with me.

Until we meet in Aspen,

R

Ahhh, good you've begun the journey. The train ride up the Rockies will be incredible. Good choice! Reminds me of the Durango-Silverton ride I've had the good fortune of taking. Truly inspirational beauty. I hope you've dressed warm enough--your hats will come in good use for keeping out the chill.

I'll have some mulled wine ready for you once you get here. If you get a chance, do be sure to log online to my blog whilst you sit there admiring the views on your trip. I have already written up a post to set the mood.

Curious--your blog says you have "0" comments thus far adn yet here is mine above? I have even refreshed my screen. Go figure. Well, as it is, I've written up your status on the Promoters side bar. Can't wait to see your attire. I trust you will indeed wear one of your marvelous hats? :)

MMM,

You know, the comments meter was off a bit a few days ago as well; I have no idea why. It seems to be showing them now, though.

How have you been today?

Betsy said...

Oooh...count me in for dinner! What a lovely idea! :)

Rebecca, you have exquisite tastes. I adore everything you;ve picked but especially the red and black attire and the brown tartan with cute hat. Stunning.

Yes, having dinner with you, and the gang from Ohio sounds brilliant. Are you thinking in DEnver? There is a very nice restaurant in the Oxford hotel and another at teh Brown Palace -- the winter decor is magical.

I will be sure to add you to my blog to help add to the build up. What an excellent addition your's makes!

I do hope your journey was good and you stay warm. no worries tehre, I will have a raging roaring fire prepared.

Hello Ky. girl I found you at mmm's tea invitation. You are a much more sophisticated southern lady than myself. I am wearing a red hooded cape and boots and arriving in a one horse open sleigh. Looking to meet you.

Oh, I am extra silly. Blame it on too many preparations. You are already here in Aspen! Well, I will have to se eif I can pop out foa night cap tomorrwo. I am not that familiar with Aspen, other than where we will all be, so you might want to ask the hotel staff, but keep in mind, I have also reserved plenty of lovely log cabins for my guests, should you prefer something more cozy.

MMM,

Yes, I am in Aspen staying at Hotel Jerome..Lovely place built in 1896:)..The concierge highly recommends dining at the Century Room. Take a look here..

QMM, oh, how wonderful another Kentuckian in CO!. LOL!! I can't wait to see the sled, btw!..Where in KY are you from? I am so glad to hear from someone else who read The Thirteenth Tale..Was that not an amazing read? I still think about it often. Join us for dinner tomorrow?

Skip, since you had all the flights reserved, I had to take the train, but it was quite scenic. Would you and your 'assistant', Gretchen, care to join me and the others for dinner tomorrow night?

Skip Simpson said...

Rebecca, I assume? I'm Skip, and this is my personal assistant, Gretchen. So nice to meet you in person! This is such a lovely place... much better than "Bob's Pretty Good Inn" that we're staying at.

Rebecca said...

Hello Skip. Charmed..And, this is the ever radiant Gretchen? Very nice to meet you both.

I'm glad you like the arrangements, and, I took the liberty of checking the menu for you. Prime Rib is indeed on there, a generous portion, of course:-)..

Skip Simpson said...

Feel free to wander over to where I'm located.

Betsy said...

Good evening everyone! Sorry I'm a bit late for dinner! Those horse drawn carriages don't travel as fast as the train! ha! I was doing a bit of shopping! My, now isn't this place divine! That Prime Rib looks heavenly....

Rebecca said...

Don't you look lovely, Betsy! I'm so glad you like the dining room.

I'm quite famished tonight. I do believe I worked up an appetite with all that shopping today. Did you find any great finds in the city to add to your collections?

Have you met Skip's "personal assitant", Gretchen? He's following the event with a great write up at his "locale" as well:-)

Betsy said...

Oh yes, I've met Gretchen. I remember Skip for Willow's Ball.
You look absolutely lovely in that gown, btw!

I found a gorgeous Limoges tea pot while shopping today. What a treasure...and the perfect remembrance for this event!

Skip Simpson said...

Good evening, Betsy! You look absolutely radiant tonight, as do all the ladies. I'm starving, so Gretchen and I are about to be seated, if you'd care to join us?

Betsy said...

Absolutely, Skip! My, don't you look dashing! Gretchen is lovely and you look like the language barrier isn't hampering her evening at all. I think everyone is enjoying meeting her!

Rebecca said...

Yes, Skip, I have to agree with Betsy, you look wonderful in that terrific tux and Gretchen's dress is smashing:)...

Skip Simpson said...

Thank you. I guess we communicate easier, because we've had over a month of working side-by-side every day at the studio.

Rebecca,
The dinner was lovely. I thought the beef was very tender. My compliments to the chef. And of course that strawberry dessert was to die for!.. Thanks for a wonderful evening of festive fun.

Hello?? Hello? Anybody here?? Darn it, the lights have been turned down low and I can't figure out if anyone is around. (Whom am i talking to any way then?! LOL!) Oh, ow it is gorgeous in here and I missed most, if not all the fun! I would love a slice of that Aux jus about now. Been sampling far too many pastries, cakes, etc, to get everything just perfect for all of you.

Hmmm, well I think I should mosey about here a bit and see if anyone is having after dinner drinks in the lobby or something. Probably all retired to bed by now, quite right so, I imagine.

Well, from what I can tell it must have been a lovely night. Everyone looking so marvelous. I probably wouldn;t ahve fit in anyway. Got flour all through my curls, my clothes are a mess and I'm worn out anyway!

Guess why I'm late? Well, after finishing things up in the grand lodge I rushed to my own place and got locked in! the doors froze shut in the night chill. Crazy! there i was slamming against it all night long desperately wanting to dash over adn meet you and no go. ...well, that is until I fiugured out the doors had to be pulled to open. Silly me. Must get some good sleep tongiht I suppose.

Now, let me look around a little bit more before retiring again to my lodge!!

Rebecca said...

Narrowly missed you!

Come and join us for a drink before leaving:)

...mmm... said...

Ah hah!1 Well, one night cap is better than nothing. Thank you for waiting around.

Dragonfly said...

Wow!! You are so well prepared with many lovely outfits! I'm feeling rather under-dressed!!!
See you at the party :-)

Oh dear Rebecca, did not receive your invite for dinner in time. Tom and I were already there but you know when you are with Tom Jones, who wants to eat? Beside we are early to bed and early to rise folks. See you at the tea. Sounds like a wonderful time and stimulating conversations we missed.
