Our Rosebud has Chicken Pox....
(Illustration by Hanako Wakiyama from the book Goldilocks's has Chicken Pox by Erin Dealy)

We've been hit with the dreaded Chicken Pox at our house. Our poor little 20 month old daughter, Katie( AKA Rosebud) has been bombarded with the itching, fever, irritability and more itching...The Calamine lotion and Dr. Mom is fast at work...Our son had the vaccine when he was a toddler but Katie had yet to have that so wouldn't you know it hit with a vengeance...I remember my bout with this when I was 5 years old and still have a faint scar on my left shoulder to remind me of all that scratching!

Oh my! Hope it's a mild case and she feels better soon! All four of my boys had it at once. ...which I was actually thankful for!

Oh, I am so very sorry! For both of you. Poor thing, she has to be miserable. I have never had chicken pox. Don't know how I escaped, but my poor husband had it in college! I think it's much, much harder when one is older, so at least that's one good thing about Katie getting it now I guess. I'll say a prayer for her!

Betsy and Pamela, thank you for your comments...I've also heard that it's really bad when you're older and have to battle this. Apparently, if you have only a mild case then there is a good chance you may get shingles down the road when once again exposed to chicken pox ( -that's what happened to my mother a few years ago-). Kaite seems to have a moderate case and is not completely covered with blisters. They're drying/scabbing over so I think the worst part is behind us...At least I hope so....

Aww. Hope she is feeling better soon, poor Rosebud. (We called our daughter that when she was a baby!) When all three of my kids got chicken pox, ages 20 mo., six and eight, WT got them, too! We didn't realize he hadn't had them as a child. Oh, he was SO sick!!

This book is adorable! I must look for it!

Poor little Katie - hope she's all better soon! I had chicken pox at 21, it was the absolute worst!

Calamine and mother-love sounds just about right. :)

My best wishes to your wee one for a speedy recovery....I didn't know that there even was a vaccine.

I had a very bad case as a child....I even had the itchy blisters on the soles of my feet. I remember having to go down the staircase on my derriere because it hurt so much to walk...
