THE LAKE

The beauty of the lake is always changing,
With the light, the weather and the season.
Yet each change holds a splendor all its own,
Each viewing precious for its own reason.
In sunshine, golden stars dance across the water.
Moonlight shines a beacon in the peaceful night.
The wind causes whitecaps to erupt and roll,
While calm brings assorted reflections of light.
The water has a new costume each day,
Perhaps gray or green, aqua or blue.
Though each view is different, the lake is the lake,
Lovely in its every color, mood and hue.
My thoughts of the lake remind me of you,
My wonderful, loving partner in life.
Through sunny days and stormy times,
We've stayed together as husband and wife.
Your love is my beacon, my star and my light;
All your colors and moods are precious to me.
You make every day an enchanting delight,
And I'll love you for all eternity.
Happy anniversary, sweetheart.
With you at my side, every experience is beautiful!

Many congratulations! What a gorgeous wedding and such lovely couple you make! Tell me about your dress...it could be straight from a fairy tale...so romantic. Is it vintage? I enjoyed the peek at your album. Thanks for sharing Rebecca!

Thank you so much, Willow! What kind words. I feel so very fortunate and blessed by the family God has given to me... The dress wasn't vintage, though it looked it so that was why I fell in love with it at the Bridal Shop. I believe it was from the Ilissa Renaissance collection by Demitrios. It was/is brocade, off the shoulder with long sleeves, and had a dropped v front and back waistline. The v neck, sleeve cuffs, and waist line were all lined with tiny pearls. The veil had tiny pearls sewn all throughout the tulle and extended well beyond the long train ( which I was able to gather and raise in the back -at the reception ).

You know, I can't help but hope that my daughter might at least entertain the idea of wearing it on her wedding day( MANY YEARS from now..LOL!!!)..But, alas, if she doesn't want to I'll understand. My mother's gown was also brocoade but it was short( it was the 60's) and I wanted a long one with a train trailing...

Your wedding pictures are beautiful- what a lovely bride you made.

I noticed we like many of the same books and same genre in fiction... write me sometime about Dorothy Sayers? I read Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Rex Stout, Agatha Christie, and a few others...

Lizzie, thank you so much for stopping by and posting such a nice comment... Your blog is so wonderful and I am in awe of you with your two sets of precious twins. You, my dear, are an inspiration!

Yes, I noticed that we do share a lot of similar interests in fiction(especially mysteries). I'll send you an email tomorrow about Dorothy Sayers...

Blessings to you and your lovely family...

Blog Princess G, Thanks so much! John's parents watched our children for us so we could go out for a nice dinner. We don't get out without them very often so it's certainly nice to have an evening together.

How about that. Congratulations. Fourteen years is a fine time to celebrate being husband and wife.

My wife and I were married in 1955 so we are fast approaching 53 years. It is nice to know who your best friend is.

Thank you Mr. Lincoln( a favorite Kentuckian of mine, BTW)! Welcome!

You hit the nail on the head with the comment about knowing who your best friend is. Thank you for that. I hope and pray that John and I will celebrate our 53rd anniversary one day.

Natalie, thank you! Life is very good these days.

I love the skirt and can't wait to wear it at the picnic! Thank you so much...I have that 1920's dress waiting for you:-D...

I love the picture of you and Curte in your sewing room. It's the black and white wedding picture..You're dancing in that one, I do believe...I'd love to see more of your wedding pictures sometime.
