DAVID COPPERFIELD

(Dickens's Dream Watercolour by Robert William Buss, 1870)

This Sunday, the 1ST of March, Masterpiece Classics on PBS will air the 2000 BBC version of Dickens' David Copperfield...This adaptation stars a young Daniel Radcliffe( of Harry Potter Fame), Dame Maggie Smith, Sir Ian McKellan ( Lord of the Rings), and Bob Hoskins. I will be tuning in with a nice cuppa Earl Grey to enjoy another great Dickens feature.

Thanks for the heads up on this, Rebecca! I've not seen this one!

Glad you could see her, too, in my post today! I was going to feel a little silly if no one else did. Yes, she is just to the left of the Titanic reflection, looking off to the right. I think it even looks like she is wearing a kerchief on her head.

I bet this will be good!

So you have sick kids...I know the feeling...the bugs going around are horrible!

Hi Willow...It's amazing but you can actually make out her features...What a photo op!

I haven't seen this version either but suspect it will be a very good one.

Betsy,

Yes, unfortunately, my daughter, son, and husband are all sick.I think this is the 3rd round at our house...

I'm really looking forward to watching Masterpiece tonight....

Wasn't it the autobiography of David Copperfield that Melanie Wilkes read aloud to the ladies as they did their sewing while fretting over their menfolk out at a 'political meeting' in Gone with the Wind?

Sorry to hear the family is still sick, bummer. I'm looking forward to tonight's MPT epside too!

By the way, I just wanted to tell you how much I enjoy reading your daily life items of Doing, Listening, Reading, etc. column that it inspires me to TRY to do one too. It will help me to stay connected each day and keep up on the blog reading!

Have a great week and sending healthy blessings your way!

Little Daniel Radcliffe....so adorable. Unfortunately, it was a pledge weekend at our PBS station. We got Celtic Woman instead. Maybe, hopefully, they will air this later in the week!!

Pamela, I didn't realize that it was pledge weekend until seeing Celtic Woman last night when we turned to PBS. So, no David Copperfield on KET either....Drat!

Lavinia...Right you are! She read from DC....

Thanks, Janeen...

Unfortunately, I think I'm getting another strain as well...

Hello Rebecca and thank you for visiting my tea blog. I must say, it appears that you and I have a lot in common, and I can't wait to really take some time to peruse your lovely blogs, all of them. Regarding this Dickens' watercolour, that actual chair is on display at the Museum of London. Looking forward to getting to know you! Kind regards, Denise

Hello Denise!

Welcome to the tea society!

Oh, I would love to see that chair or better yet, sit in it. Perhaps then some of the genius of Dickens might seep through...Dare I hope?

Is Charleston deep in the thralls of preparation for the Home and Garden tours this Spring?

I hope David Copperfield will be on tonight after the disappointment of having the pledge on last weekend. I too saw the pledge and thought oh now, did I record the wrong time? ha ha

Glad to see your feeling better! And.... I like your new book shelf. Very cha cha!

Darn, I just checked my local listing and it's not on again. Instead it is Yanni. It looks like it was on at midnight last night though. Oh well, I'll have to check netflix to see if I can rent it. I hope you have better luck.
