A VICTORIAN GHOST STORY TEA EVENT

This is shaping up to be a busy week for me with preparations for our Victorian Ghost Story Tea event. I have nearly completed the menu and have finalized my Edwardian-inspired touring ensemble. I am now putting the finishing touches on my hat. For this event, members have been asked to not only dress in Victorian or Edwardian-inspired attire, but to also share a ghost story with the group as we share ‘high tea’ on Saturday, October 24th. Natalie, from ZipZip’s Vintage sewing blog, will be allowing use of her beautiful home in Lexington for our evening of tea and reverie, as my house is under renovation and restoration, which will be continuing all through the winter months as well.

I have read a number of interesting ghostly accounts on many blogs which I frequent. Willow certainly has oodles to share at the manor. If any fellow bloggers and frequenters to the Tea Society would like to share some of their stories in the comments to this post, please feel free to do so. I am always eager to hear of a good ghostly story. I am not much on gore, but I delight in a good re-telling of a spectral encounter.
Ta, ta!

Rebecca, btw, the Natalie link only takes one to blogspot.com , not her actual blog. might want to fix that.

Ooh, how fun. you really need some male representation at these sort of things. I am not one to dress up that much really but I'd love the tea no doubt.

Ghost stories--yes, I have plenty of real ones but they leave me feeling very unsettled. I will tell you that when I was very young we lived in Malaysia in the house of a man who had been murdered. Many nights my parents and older sis would hear footsteps go up the stairs to the bedrooms, the door would open adn the steps would come right up to the edge of the bed. One time my mother prayed the Lord's Prayer as she heard the two shadowy figured say they were going to take her soul but then they turned around and left adn said she was not ready. the most concrete time was when my father saw a Malaysian man walk right up to him whilst hosting a dinner and disappear. he turned death white and all the guests asked if he had seen a ghost jokingly! Indeed he had.

M,

Yes, indeed we do...You wont happen to be in Central Kentucky this Sat. will you? LOL!! Oh well...if you were you would be the guest of honor, period clothing or not...

The link to Natalie's blog should be fixed now..Thanks for letting me know.

I had a feeling you would have some good ones to share. Thank you! The one about your mother gave me a chill, indeed. Sounds like your family is very sensitive to the paranormal.

I have to remember to bring my camera. We should have some fun pics from this one.

Oooh ~ scarry story from Mmm for sure! I haven't actually seen a ghost, but have seen a shadow of one and sat in a quiet room while a door opened..those among several other spooky things (all at Willow's haunted house, wouldn't you know!)

Hi Sweet,I have had a real encounter with a Ghost and do have pictures of orbs. They are always by my Gazebo. The most recent encounter was when I was mowing with a push mower.I live in the woods, no neighbors. Most of the time by myself. I was getting so tired pushing the mower, but hardheaded me kept pushing. Then...out of nowhere....I heard as plain as day....Can I help you??? The hair on the back of my neck stood up.I looked around, no one was there. I know what I heard. I can even picture who said it. Standing there with his and it was a his...his hands on his hips.
Thats just one story...

I'm not sure its as much sensitivity as my family exposing themselves to this sort of thing having dabble din Ouija, psychics and other occult type stuff. these days I steer well clear of all that--enough on my plate already! :)
