Rebecca...I look forward to having these gorgeous Hydrangea in my garden when we move back to South Carolina..they just make my heart happy to look at them :) I have one very small plant in my garden here.(they don't do well) Hydrangea were used in my grandson Brad's wedding...the color of yours..

The color of hydrangeas is determined by the soil. Mine are a lavish pink.

Stunning colour! Oh my Rebecca, these are absolutely gorgeous...what a green thumb you've got, in order to have these beauties in your garden!

Rebecca, I've just enlarged both photos and I'm just incredulous at the fantastic macro you've got on your camera. There is such clarity, to each and every waterdroplet and individual petal...amazing.

I've just set the top photo as my desktop wallpaper.

AL, that is correct. The name "Nikko Blue" is the name of this particular variety but it could easily become pink if the soil was alkaline. I have very acidic soil in the garden and add coffee grounds to the base of the hydrangeas in the early spring. This makes the blue deeper and richer...

Okay, I was just going to ask what you add to your soil to keep them so blue! I've heard of rusty nails. I have one hydrangea, but it has done poorly ever since the roofers trampled it down a few years ago. Maybe I can coax it back with some coffee grounds.

Gorgeous, absolutely gorgeous, Rebecca! :)

Dee and Besty...I look forward to them every year because they always have double the amount of blooms from the previous year. The exception would be last year when we got a late freeze which resulted in no hydrangea blooms at all in the garden. The garden was so bare.

Lavinia, thank you. I remember you blogging about how much you like blue flowers in a past post so I thought of you when I was in the garden taking pictures.

Willow, you can also try aluminun sulfate( I think you can get that at Lowe's) and/ or feed them with Peter's liquid food for Acid Loving plants or Miracid...

Thanks Rebecca...the blue definitely gives the flower a celestial, unearthly aura!

Your a VERY lucky girl. Nikko Blue seems to like living in your gardens very much! Hydrangea's are so happy and fresh. Especially the beautiful blue ones like yours!

Like your new banner here very much. I raise my tea cup to you!

I am so jealous! I lost 3 hydrangea in the drought we had last year. One still lives...barely...but it is living.
